“SIMULACRA”

Inspired by Amadeus by Peter Schaffer

Simulacra, the most famous pop star of the year 3098, finds herself in a New London alley after discovering she is an android made for mass entertainment. Through her words and personality, she shows us how human she really is.

CW: strong language, substance use, racism, implied sexual exploitation, suicide mention

SIMULACRA was performed as Ciarlene’s performance dissertation at East 15 School of Acting as a part of completing her Masters of Fine Arts in Acting International on 28th October, 2023. Based on Peter Schaffer’s groundbreaking play Amadeus, SIMULACRA explores the image of Mozart to the extreme, applying themes of commodified artistry and Techno-Orientalism in a uniquely vaporwave setting.
